Ethiopian Cuisine

Ethiopian foods consists of a delicious array of vegetable and meat dishes, all served on a bed of injera sourdough flatbread. Ethiopians do not use utensils, so food is eaten by scooping with the injera.

Berbere
The essence of Ethiopian cooking, Berbere is an Ethiopian spice mixture whose ingredients usually include chile peppers, ginger, cloves, coriander, and allspice.
Injera
Injera is the Ethiopian staple bread. It is a sourdough flatbread with a spongy texture. Unique to Ethiopia, Injera is made with Teff, an stable grain in Ethiopia. (Learn more about Injera)
For Vegetarians
Ethiopian food is popular with vegetarians. It is a delicous change from more common Asian themed vegetarian foods. Ethopia has a large variety of vegetarian dishes due to the traditional fasting of the orthodox church. (Learn more about vegetarian dishes)
Coffee
Ethiopia is the birthplace of coffee. At Arada, you can experience the original with the traditional Ethiopian coffee ceremony. In the ceremony, beans are prepared before your eyes as the beans are washed, roasted, ground and brewed, resulting in the freshest and most delicous coffee you can have.
